Cabin air filters are designed to keep the air that comes into your car from the heater and from air outside the car clean. When you use your Accord's heater or air conditioner and begin to notice there is more sound than airflow, this is when you need to replace the cabin air filter. A cabin air filter replacement can be done in minute--and by anybody--so there is no need to take your car into the dealership for this. Open the glove box of your Accord. Along the corner closest to the passenger side door, you will find a lever to pull. Pull down on the latch until it is laying on the glove box. This is done so that the glove box will have full range of motion as the cabin air filter sits directly behind it.The Install
Now squeeze together at the top of the glove box to disconnect the holders that keep it in place and carefully lower the top of the glove box towards the ground. You now have access behind the glove box so that you can uninstall the old cabin air filter and install the new one. There will be two black latches to indicate the corners of the cabin air filter tray. Gently squeeze on these corners to remove the tray and gain access to the cabin air filter.
You will notice that the bottom of the tray is hollow and holds the cabin air filter in by a small edge running along the bottom of the tray. Push the old one out and replace it with your new cabin air filter. Now return it back into the car and snap the corners of the tray into place to finish the installation. Now reattach the top of the glove box to its position by gently squeezing in the corners and sliding them into place.
Last, make sure to push the lever back up into it's spot, and you will have successfully replaced your cabin air filter.Source:
Just changed mine yesterday. It's behind the glove box. Squeeze the top sides of the glove box together and drop it down. The filter is right there. Squeeze the tabs in and remove the filter. I bought a Fram filter, CF10134, under $20.
