What you should do is buy a new one. If you let it eat the tape, there will be nothing to watch. If you keep trying with the one that stops, it will probably try to hurt your tape to. VCRs are so difficult to deal with, and they're really cheap now. You could even buy a combo DVD/VCR. Those are convenient and cheap as well.
No matter what I do, that _______ stain just won't come out!

Suddenly on vcr playback, the image periodically switches to blue screen alternating with fast-forward mode. Happens with both home recordings and commercially bought tapes

I have a Panasonic Omnivision VCR. wHEN i SWITCH TO vcr mode the screen is dark and fuzzy. I can't use any buttons on the VCR remote
