Only when they are ready - otherwise leave it alone.

My ex-wife never did... she had just a huge stuffed animal collection, and every one of them was named.

When we were looking for a house, when we were in our 30's, we had to make sure we had one with a room just for her stuffed animal collection - a "bear room". I built custom shelves for them, and 2 platform beds for them, as well.

After we got divorced and she was shopping for a condo 12 years later, again, she had to have one with an extra room for all the stuffed animals and the collection had grown even larger at that point. Again, I built the shelves and customized the room for her.

It's been over 10 years now, and we still stay in touch, and just before Christmas this past year she asked me not to buy her any more stuffed animals because she has finally run out of room and simply has nowhere to put any more... :-)

Never, why would you want to? I plan on never getting rid of posters/mags/stuffed animals(how would I sleep without my stuffed croc?) Stuff isn't childish, it's an expression of what you like and what you find fun. Why would you want to get rid of stuff you enjoy? You can still get older and go to work, go to wine tastings, high class parties, and then go home and play video games. I know, my father does it and many of his friends. Hell, I do it as well.

I never have. I still have all those things and collect more. Who says you HAVE to "grow up"? You keep what you like.
