    Come to a very specific agreement on what's acceptable spending. You may think spending $500 per month on clothes is no big deal but your spouse may think that's irresponsible -- yet he/she spends $500 on drinks after work.

    The more specifics you agree on now, the easier the conversations are later about money.

    Be open and honest about your debt history! My wife didn't tell me that she had horrible credit, and I found out when we were denied for a mortgage loan. Be open and honest, and you can both work on repairing it as soon as possible.
