    Check out the Philosphical Work section of this. Descartes had a very cutting edge idea on perception, deduction, and the rules of the senses when it came to man. Though all of that related mainly around his study of natural sciences, and the human brain (and how it works).
    As far as perception goes, Descartes denied that we can not trust our senses and perceptions alone to tell us about the world around us. It all goes back to him trying to work out what thought is, and why it exists.
