When a taxi advertises "$2.60/drop," what the hell is it talkin' about? Does its driver sell oversized gumdrops to the passengers?

In my town, taxis say:

"$2.60/Drop"
"$1.60/Mile"

Some may wonder whether those taxis sell oversized gumdrops to the passengers as a courtesy and to be a better service than competing taxis...

    Thats when 2 or more people get in a taxi, if one wants off, before reaching final destionation, Its $2.60 on top of the final fare.
