Help answer this question below.

could a 5hp electric motor be gear reduced with pulleys to run three 5000w generators

Do you think a 5hp electric motor could be gear reduced with pulleys to run say three 5000w generators and produce more power than it takes to run the motor. 5hp motor takes 15amps to run and a 5000w generator produces around 40amps.To good to be true?

746 watts equals 1 horsepower, more or less; so no, you could not meaningfully run the 3 generators with the motor. Reduction gears would mean that you run the generators at a much slower speed which is certainly possible, but then they would not produce the 5000w they are rated for. There is inefficiency in any system that is dissipated as heat, so running electric generators with an electric motor is of course stupid. You will run up your electric bill and make the room hot in the process.

Absolutely not. You cannot get something for nothing. For centuries people have been trying to invent a perpetual motion machine. Nothing ever works because the law of the conservation of energy cannot be violated by anything in the known universe.
