Women frequently already have children without men in their lives. From observing my own son, I realize how important a man is in a child's life, and it is best if it can be the father. I personally would not want to have a child outside of marriage. Unfortunately there are so many children that have both a mother and father in their lives, but the family is so dysfunctional that the child still suffers. My son and his father get along much better after our divorce, and my brother also plays an important role in my son's life. I guess every case is different.

men need to be a part of the baby making process. without men there's no sperm...besides kids need a father. that's just fact.

I would like my children to know who their father is. I don't want their father to be some random person who I may not even know. I believe that children deserve to know who their mother and father are, and playing with this kind of stuff may not allow them to know for sure.

Men and women can already have children today thru adoption, donor sperm/eggs, surrogate.
In 2030, there will be artificial wombs so women can have children without suffering pregnancy and men can have children without needing women.

That future is still far off, as this article points out:

    http://lesbianlife.about.com/cs/families/a/Parthenogenesis.htm

Even if it were possible, I don't see anything wrong with it, nor do I understand why men are threatened by it. First, as gardengirl pointed out, women have been raising children without men for quite some time. And, many times, it's because the father chooses not to accept the responsibilities of parenthood and leaves the woman. Why, then, do some men seem to be upset by this idea when many of them freely renounce fatherhood?

Second, relationships are about more than just procreation. Straight women would still choose men for companionship, even if they could theoretically conceive without them. And plenty of women would still want to have sons, which I don't think would be possible without a man to contribute a Y chromosome. So don't worry. Men are not going to become obsolete any time soon.

Once here now gone... now back?

Actually I believe it is already possible through an adaption of cloning. The ultra-feminists get off on the idea that they will be able to remove men from society but I think reality might spank them before too long. Otherwise it could benefit men greatly. Worried about child support, get snipped. The woman can always have a kid on their own if they want.

Who's to say what's right or wrong? As far as I know women will always need men to create life, they'll need their sperm, that is, unless someone can create artificial sperm sometime in the future. I think that as long as children are truly loved and cared for the old two parent thing isn't really need. There are many one parent families now, and with the divorce rate going the way it is evolving I would think that marriage is going to become obsolete in the future as well.

By the time women are able to have children without men, so too will men be able to have children without women. Neither sex is more important in the procreative equation.
