The ECU should automatically increase the idle speed when the A/C is in use. If your Jeep is not doing so, something should be cleaned, adjusted or possibly replaced. See your mechanic or dealer.
i would have to agree its perfectly normal for the ac to cause slightly erratic idle watch you tachometer if you have one the difference in swing should be less than 500 rpm's
When you turn on the A/C, it begins to cycle the clutch on the A/C compressor. This means that, as the compressor clutch is activated, it puts more load on your engine. The clutch creates a mechanical link between the compressor and pulley. When the clutch is activated, the belt is turning the compressor instead if just the pulley. When the clutch is deactivated, the extra load in gone. This might make it feel like the idle is erratic because your are feeling the additional load, then lack of as the compressor kicks on and off. This is a normal way for the A/C to function, but if it seems the engine is taking on a higher load than normal, you may want to bring it into a shop.

You're reading I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon when the AC or Defrost is running it has erratic idle what could cause this.
