my dad wont let me take it ANYWERE and i need to cuz my connection is crap and i can't download things. some guy from gamestop told him that moving it causes harm to it and that just baffled me so i was wondering if its true..... i've had 2 other ps3's that broke and he thinks its from the moving but they weren't the first won i was playing in a storm and the power cut out and fried my system and the other one my little bro put a disk in upside down and scratched the eye..... but if theres anything u guys (and gals) know about that can help please post ^^
There's no doubt that the PS3 is a very sensitive piece of tech, but I'll be burning in hell before moving a PS3 from one spot to another actually harms it. Here's a list of things that CAN harm it, none of which includes porting the system to and fro:
Static electricity - If ANY static is built up in your body and you touch any metal parts of the PS3 while it's running (particularly the disc holder/ejector), this can cause it to temporarily act unusual, even going so far as to flash a false Yellow Light Of Death. Mostly however, it just refuses to play disc games until you restart it, and that's about the only damage static can do to it.
Overheating - Leaving a PS3 on for hours at a time is BAD news, especially for its motherboard, which is sensitive to excessive heat. I suggest playing it for probably two or three hours, then give it about one hour to cool down so as to avoid crashing the system.
Switching off the console using the back switch instead of the front one - It doesn't do anything right away, but if you make a habit out of using the back switch to shut your system down this can cause serious problems for the PS3.
That is everything that can possibly harm a PS3, but if moving it from one place to another really does damage it, then I guess everything I typed in here is totally irrelevant.
Only if you move it to Haiti
I don't see how moving your PS3 would cause it issues. It traveled by plan, boat, truck and car just to get to your house. Think about how many times it was already moved. They even make cases so you can bring them to your buddies house and such.
Only thing I would make sure is that you don't move it around with a disk in the drive and that you let the tempature of the unit stabilize before plugging it in. Use the case that is made for the system to move it around.
my slim ps3 wont pull disc in,can i link my fat ps3 to it as a external hard drive(slim one fell but has larger hard drive)

I want to connect my pc screen to my PS3 but it only has a D-sub connector. I tried using a D-sub to VGI but it didn't work. Any advice?
