A laparoscopic procedure is the preferred way of removing the gallbladder. With this method, recovery is much quicker and patients are most often discharged the following day. Frequently, surgeons do the operation in the morning and send the patient home the same day if he feels well enough. After a few days of home rest, most patients resume their regular activities.
