  • The first prototypes of the distinctive maple leaf-patterned Canadian flag were made in 1964 at the behest of Ken Donovan of the Canadian Government Exhibition Commission. The work was carried out by graphic artists and silk screeners Jean Desrosiers and John Williams, then stitched together by Joan O'Malley.
