<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Wind Turbines Are Reliable
Wind turbines have become increasingly common due in part to their reliability. There are few moving parts, so they rarely break down. Once installed, wind turbines can provide pollution free electricity for up to 20 years.
On the Other: Wind Turbines Have Limitations
If the wind speed is less than 7 to 10 miles per hour, the wind turbine won't generate any energy. Except for the smallest models, wind turbine owners need at least an acre of land to keep the noise and vibration from becoming bothersome.
Bottom Line
Wind turbines are a great investment in clean renewable energy, but they have their limits. Few people can rely on a wind turbine as their sole source of electricity, and most still use public electricity at least part of the year when the wind is slow.
