EarthBox is a registered trademark of an all inclusive gardening system made by a company of the same name. Small and portable, the EarthBox provides enough space to grow two tomato plants, four melon plants or eight strawberry plants.
Description
EarthBox dimensions are 29 inches wide by 13 1/2 inches deep by 11 inches tall. It has a reservoir that regulates water to plant roots and a cover that prohibits weeds and garden pests.
Materials
The box itself is made from plastic with UV inhibitors. The EarthBox is available in white, green or terra cotta. Casters for portability and a plastic staking system are optional.
How It Works
Special potting mix is necessary along with a dry fertilizer. Water wicks up through the soil mix to plant roots, and the dry fertilizer is absorbed by roots as it settles into the soil. The cover prevents evaporation, so water use is more efficient.
What's Included
EarthBox is a garden in a box and includes everything needed to get started except the plants. Fertilizer, potting mix, the cover, a watering tube and the box are all included.
Costs
The regular EarthBox kit costs less than $60. A completely organic unit sells for slightly more.
