<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Protecting Your Data
While McAfee is a long-established and credible provider of anti-virus and Internet security software, whether you need additional software will depend on which McAfee product is installed on your computer. All current versions of McAfee software include anti-viral and Internet security components, but if you have an older (legacy) version, consider upgrading to a comprehensive package that will protect you from viral and non-viral Internet threats.
On the Other: Err on the Side of Caution
Since Internet threats are constantly evolving, even if you have a recent version of a comprehensive protection suite, installing a second program can provide added protection, since each program will be based on different detection heuristics.
Bottom Line
McAfee is a reputable software vendor that can provide stand-alone software-based protection, but If your McAfee application does not include anti-virus and spy-ware detection, upgrade or augment your software with an additional application.
