  • <h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars Are Safe

Hydrogen is less flammable and explosive than gasoline. A fire or explosion is highly unlikely because hydrogen dissipates quickly and would not maintain the concentration necessary for ignition in the open air. As a fuel it burns cleaner than gasoline with no carbon emissions, which makes it safe from a pollution standpoint as well.

On the Other: Hyrogen Has Some Drawbacks

It takes a lot of energy to produce hydrogen from water and it is difficult to store. Hydrogen is a gas at room temperature and must be stored in pressurized containers or liquefied by cooling. The technology is relatively new and hydrogen fuel cells are fragile and expensive. They are not yet practical for widespread use.

    Bottom Line

Hydrogen fuel cell cars are safe but they are still in the experimental testing phase. The technology is advancing and it is very promising for the future. They are not only safe to use but they are safe for the environment as well. Hydrogen fuel cell cars do not produce any carbon emissions.
