Posters are a staple of the decorating scheme for bedrooms, living rooms, basements and even classrooms. Yet sometimes it feels like you're defying the laws of physics when you try to get them to stay on the walls. There are a variety of products you can use to hang posters. Some work better than others at getting them to stay there. Regular tape simply doesn't work well when hanging posters on walls. However, you can buy double-sided poster-mounting squares that are very effective. The downside to these is that they often tear your posters and peel paint off your walls when you take them down again. The 3M corporation makes some that you can easily remove; when you pull on a little tab on the poster hanger, it peels off the walls without harm. Damage to the poster can still occur, but it will be minimal. One way to protect the poster is to stick a square of duct tape on every corner on the back of your poster in advance. Then apply your adhesive over this duct tape and it will come off without tearing the actual poster. Use poster-hanging devices to attach your posters to the walls. Simple push pins or thumb tacks will work, though they will also leave holes in the wall. You can frame your posters and use a frame hanger or nail to attach them to the walls as well. Or try Stikki clips. These small clips have colorful plastic fronts and adhesive backings to help you clip a poster to the wall. Sticky putty is another way to hang posters on the walls. This stuff usually comes in three colors: white, yellow or blue. The blue kind is the most effective at keeping a poster on the wall, but you will have to use a significant amount (large, quarter-sized globs on every corner and intermittently in the spaces in between). Sometimes the putty can stick to the walls when you take the posters down, and you have to scrub it off with soapy water or an adhesive remover. Photo Xels: How to Hang a PrintAdhesives
If you're hanging your posters on a concrete wall, such as those generally found in schools, you might even have success with using hot glue to attach posters to the wall. It will peel off when you're finished with the posters without damaging the wall or the posters. The only difficult part about using hot glue is getting the cord to stretch high enough and making sure to press the poster to the walls while the glue is still hot.Assistive Devices
