According to the Crocs website, the popular shoes feature soles made of croslite, a resin material that grips the ground with characteristics similar to rubber. One customer on the product review website ePinions indicated that she wore a pair of Crocs to hike the Appalachian Trail, a mountainous nature trail that requires considerable traction to successfully navigate.
On the Other: Crocs Get Slick When Wet
Despite the exceptional traction on dry land and dirt, many Crocs customers who posted reviews on ePinions pointed out that the shoes became very slippery when they got wet. According to an article on news website AlterNet, Crocs can become so slippery when exposed to moisture that they may cause the wearer to fall, a contention that has led some hospitals to ban staff from wearing the shoes.
Bottom Line
In dry conditions, Crocs offer plenty of traction. When wet, though, Crocs can become very slick.
