Independent Editors
Authors can hire independent editors to copy edit and proofread manuscripts prior to submission. Depending upon the fees involved, independent book editors might also provide substantive edits, offering recommendations for improving the overall quality of the written work.
Job Skills
The primary requirement for any book editor is that he must enjoy reading. He must also have strong attention to detail, expert knowledge of writing style and grammar rules and an awareness of market trends within the publishing industry.
