Help answer this question below.
The most important factor of hanging a television set on the wall is comfort. Although hanging your TV 20 feet onto the wall so it shows off your vaulted ceilings may look nice, if you do so you can expect to walk away with neck pains after just one episode of American Idol. The first step to hanging your TV is to sit down on your couch, bean bag, or whatever viewing furniture you have and check where you can stare off without any discomfort. The middle of the TV should hang at that eye level. Although comfort is important, aesthetics do need special attention. Lets say you like to sit on the ground, and the most comfortable place to watch the TV is two inches off of the ground. This scenario creates an aesthetic travesty, and your guests will surely question your decorating techniques. Also, what may look good to you in your seat may not look so great for another person in the room looking at the same TV. Make sure the TV is easily seen from any viewing angle. There is no definitive answer to television height. All factors--comfort, looks, accessibility--must play a role in the final decision. No one person can tell you how high to hang your TV and no one person will absolutely love your decision, but as long as everyone is comfortable no one will complain. On One Hand: What is comfortable?
On the Other: Aesthetics and obstacles
