Has anyone used Sea Kelp as a supplement? I was told it would speed up my metabolism. I looked and it contains iodine. Is that safe? Do we need that in our diet?

Of course it's safe; fish eat it, don't they? They sell it in stores as food, don't they? And small quantities of iodine are essential for life, health and a normal metabolism. It's worth a try and can't possibly do you any harm. And yes, I have used it, not that that's very important.

kelp is a good source of bioavailable iodine, which yes, we need a great deal of in our diets. you should excrete through your urine any excess.

it would be wise to be monitored by doctor or someone versed in supplementation.

I haven't used it. But I do know that we need iodine in our deits in very small doses. And be carefull with suppliments they don't have to be regulated because they're considered food and not drugs. some of it is really dangerous.

Yes, we do, which is why most salt contains iodine. We don't need much of it though. I've never used sea kelp as a supplement. But I've eaten alot of seaweed, and it's delicious.

The Japanese and Chinese have been eating it for centuries and they are extremely healthy people.
