  • Zigbee is the latest advancement in wireless networking, working with utility providers and electronics manufacturers to create a convenient, energy-efficient wireless alternative. Zigbee allows a variety of electronic devices to interconnect through a single network, operated by a single remote.

    Device

The Zigbee RF4CE relies on two components; a target device (PAN) and a controller device. One electronic device is connected to each PAN. Each PAN is then connected to the broader network and therefore is able to rely on a single remote to communicate with each product in the network.

    Network

The Zigbee network, in a sense, provides a global language by which a wide variety commercial and consumer products can communicate.

    Alliance

The Zigbee Alliance is open to all manufacturers, allowing them to join together and update their technology to become compatible with Zigbee's open global standard.

    Application

Currently, Zigbee technology has yet to become a popular household network, but has gained a strong foothold in the health care, energy, and home automation markets.

    Zigbee HAN

Zigbee currently provides its home area networking (HAN) capabilities to various utility and energy providers. With this, the customer can conveniently control, for example, their lights, thermostat, and appliances from a single network.
