Full coverage dental insurance is simply standard dental insurance. With each plan you have different levels of coverage. Full does not mean coverage for everything. Your coverage varies by which insurance provider you use and which plans are available.
Requirements
You are still required to pay premiums for your dental insurance. A minimum yearly deductible is also required for specific procedures.
Preventive Care
X-rays and routine cleanings costs are completely covered with full coverage dental insurance. These procedures are considered preventive care measures.
Dentist Acceptance
When you enroll in a full coverage dental insurance plan, you are given a list of participating dentists. You can seek services from nonparticipating dentists, but you may be subject to additional costs.
Coverage for Major Procedures
Some full coverage insurance will pay 80 percent of the cost for major dental work. These procedures may include crowns, root canals and bridges.
Employer-Provided
You are not limited to only employer-provided full coverage dental insurance. If you choose to enroll in the company's plan you must use the insurance provider of its choosing. However, external plans are available.
