They will simply add the price of the equipment and shipping and handling charges to your account. Place a phone call to DirecTV directly to get the latest HD equipment. It offers standard HD boxes and HD DVRs for recoding your favorites shows. It sometimes runs specials on their equipment, so check the website or ask a customer representative if there are any current deals on the equipment you want for your home. It may waive the shipping and handling charges if you have been a customer for a certain length of time or give you a small concession on your bill toward service.

Contract Renewal

Renew your contract with DirecTV. If you are near the end of your contract, you can choose to extend it. You will not only get the newest promotion for renewing, but you will also be able to upgrade your equipment at a reduced rate. It often offers half-off of HD equipment for renewing your contract. During football season, it offers free Premier packages and heavily discounted service for new and renewing customers. Give them a call if your contract has expired, because you may be able to trade your existing equipment for HD equipment with a one-year contract. By renewing under a shorter contract, you may be able to get free HD equipment. Call them if your contract is almost over and another HD satellite company is running a special--you can use that information to get a free HD upgrade. Although you must be willing to leave DirecTV if it isn't interested in matching a competitor's offer, you may be able to get an upgrade for free because it wants to keep its customers.
