  • A bidet is either a stand-alone unit or an attachment to any standard toilet that is meant to clean the genital and anal areas after the use of the restroom. Bidets have a wide variety of health and hygiene benefits.

    Heals and Prevents Illness

While the use of toilet paper can irritate genital and anal problems, bidets have been shown to alleviate or prevent them. Diseases like hemorrhoids, which affect almost 90 percent of the American population at some point, are allowed to heal much faster with the use of a bidet.

    Saves Water

Not only does the use of a bidet save on the water that is normally flushed down the toilet due to usually having to flush multiple times for large amounts of paper, but it also saves on the very water that is used to make a roll of toilet paper in the first place. Manufacturing toilet paper requires, just in America alone, almost 474 billion gallons of water annually. This amount of water could fill over 550,000 Olympic-size swimming pools.

    Saves Trees

To make the amount of toilet paper used in just the U.S. alone, it takes an average of 15 million trees per year. With the use of a bidet, toilet paper use should drop dramatically, thus saving the trees used to make the paper.

    Saves Electricity

The bidet itself doesn't require the use of any electricity in order to run. Thus, with consumers replacing toilet paper use with the bidet, the U.S. would save the almost 17 billion kilowatt hours of electricity needed to run the manufacturing plants and processes of creating toilet paper. This much electricity could power about 2 million homes for an entire year.

    Saves Money

In America alone, consumers buy over $4 million of toilet paper annually. While the average cost that a family spends on toilet paper annually would be around the same price of purchasing a bidet, the bidet is reusable year after year, thus being a great return on investment after just one year's time.
