In Japan, green tea that is mixed with grains of brown (unpolished) rice is a popular drink. Called genmaicha, this drink combines the health benefits of green tea with some of the health benefits of eating brown rice.
Anti-Aging
All teas, especially green teas, contain chemicals called antioxidants. These chemicals neutralize compounds, called free radicals, which play a role in the wear and tear of aging. By eliminating free radicals, antioxidants slow the aging process.
Stimulating
Genmaicha contains caffeine and chemicals called tannins. These compounds act as stimulants, making you feel more awake and giving you more energy.
Immune System Boost
Genmaicha also contains compounds called catechins which boost your body's defenses against disease.
Weight Loss
Drinking genmaicha can boost your metabolism, making it easier for you to lose weight.
Nutrients and Minerals
Brown rice contains important minerals and nutrients including B vitamins, manganese, selenium and iron. These nutrients play an important role in keeping you healthy.
