Consider two or three times the amount of physical memory in the computer as a starting point for the virtual memory size in Windows Vista. In a computer with 3 GB of memory, the virtual memory size should be 6 GB to 9 GB. You may also let Windows Vista manage the virtual memory size automatically. If the computer has more than one fast internal hard drive, place the virtual memory file on a hard drive other than the one on which Windows is installed.
