The simple answer is no. According to PC Stats, the Sony VAIO PCG-C1VP PictureBook PC supports Cardbus technology, and according to the product description at Amazon, the CRX85A external Cardbus DVD/CD-RW drive can connect to a Cardbus-equipped laptop with no internal DVD/CD drive. However, the CRX85A is not a hard drive, and therefore cannot boot up the Sony PictureBook laptop.Source:
