<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: You Can Burn Soy Beans
Pellet stoves typically burn wood pellets, but some will burn soy beans as well. Some convert to burning soy beans with the touch of a button. These are also known as corn stoves, biomass stoves or multi-fuel stoves in addition to being pellet stoves.
On the Other: Not All Stoves Will Burn Soy Beans
Your stove must be a biomass or multi-fuel pellet stove to successfully burn soybeans, or other biomass such as corn, or cherry pitts. A regular pellet stove is made to burn wood pellets so you would have unpredictable results with burning soybeans.
Bottom Line
With home heating costs on the rise, many people are choosing alternative ways to heat their home, including pellet stoves that burn a variety of biomass. Be aware that there will be more ash with some fuels as compared to others so your stove may need emptied more frequently when burning soy beans.
