While each college or university maintains different criteria for a business degree, most schools conform to a basic regimen of general academic studies and specific business courses.
Minimum credit hours
Most schools require a minimum of 120 credit hours. This can be achieved by taking 15 hours each semester for four years.
Math related courses
Most business schools offer required courses in economics, accounting, and business statistics that must be passed to earn a business degree.
Management
After the completion of introductory economics and accounting classes, many schools require several specialized management courses. These could include entrepreneurial management, risk management, and accounting management.
Liberal education
Most universities require similar general course studies for every student, regardless of degree. These may include history, science, writing, literature, and cultural diversity.
Special Problems
Special problems courses may be offered during the senior year of study. These independent classes may involve completion of a project that illustrates an understanding of many different business related skills and concepts that have been explored throughout the degree plan.
