A merchant account provider must follow certain rules in regards to processed transactions. Besides refunding monies as requested by a merchant or monies processed in error, credit card processors must also honor the results of any disputed transaction investigation (chargeback request). If an investigation ends in the customer's favor, the company must reverse the transaction.
