  • Pontiac's G6 was one of the brand's top-selling models before the discontinuation in 2009. With a good record in safety and luxury features such as keyless ignition and a panoramic sunroof, it's easy to understand why. One of its more functional features, though, is the keyless entry.

    Reprogramming

While many cars can be reprogrammed at home with a generic keyless entry remote and a guide, that isn't the case with the Pontiac G6. The cars owner's manual recommends that you take in the car and the keyless entry system to your nearest dealership's service department. At the dealership, the technicians will not only reprogram the keyless entry remote, but also reprogram the car, giving it a different signature, making any previous keyless entry remotes associated with the G6 worthless. To locate your nearest Pontiac dealership, go to pontiacdealer.com (in Resources) and type in your ZIP code. Then, click on the nearest dealership on the map to bring up its contact information. Proceed to call the service department and set up a time to come in and have the keyless entry reprogrammed. Once you get there, the reprogramming will only take about a half an hour from the time you pull in.
