<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Cut-Off Wheel
One tool that comes with the Dremel, a hand-held multifunction rotary tool, is the cut-off wheel. This is a very heavy-duty, self-sharpening wheel that is reinforced with radial fibers and used to slice and cut metal, wood or plastic. These wheels are generally used in the construction industry in order to cut rebar and protruding bolts.
On the Other: Grinding Stone
The grinding stone--often made of aluminum silicone--is another tool for the Dremel that is similar to a cut-off wheel, but is used for grinding surfaces. It is often used for removing hard materials from a surface or engraving into hard materials.
Bottom Line
The grinding stone and the cut-off wheel are Dremel's most heavy-duty tools because of their ability to tackle the heaviest of materials and survive the process. However, the cut-off wheel is the most heavy-duty tool because of its ability to cut through--rather than grind--these strong materials with ease.
