Cardholders receive discounts from major American companies with which American Express has partnered, including Marriott hotels, Hertz car rentals and DirecTV.

Travel Hotline Help

Cardholders can also call the Global Assist Hotline at any time for medical, legal, financial, or other emergency assistance--all at no cost--while traveling more than 100 miles from home. This feature is provided to help with issues like access to emergency cash and recovery of lost luggage.

Purchase Protection

The American Express Blue Card provides customers with protection against theft or accidental damage for up to 90 days from the date of purchase. This coverage is good for up to $1,000 per occurrence and $50,000 annually per account.

Online Account Management

Cardholders can use the Internet to check recent card activity and make payments from linked checking accounts. Membership Rewards point balances can also be checked and managed online.

Zero-Percent Introductory Rate

New Amex Blue customers qualify for a zero-percent introductory annual percentage rate, or APR, for either six or 12 months, depending on individual credit scores. After that introductory period, the APR will increase to between 6.99 and 13.99 percent, again depending on one's credit score.
