Restassis Ophthalmic Emulsion treats keratoconjunctivitis sicca, colloquially known as dry eye. Lack of optical lubrication results in inflammation of both the tear ducts and eyes. Restassis differs from artificial tear products, as it increases tear production rather than acts as a moistening solution.
