<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Easy and Effective
Today's epilators use small, rotating metal plates that open and close like tweezers, extracting hair quickly from the skin. Since body hair grows in cycles, the removed hair grows back much more sparsely. Some die-hard epilators report that, over time, unwanted hair disappears almost entirely.
On the Other: Not for the Faint-Hearted
If you have thick hair or sensitive skin, using an epilator can be a very painful process, especially the first time. And if you have hairs that are too short for the epilator to reach or too thin for it to grab, you won't get the all-over smooth effect you might expect.
Bottom Line
If you can stand the initial discomfort, epilators are an effective way to remove unwanted hair, and they're cheaper than waxing. For the best results, exfoliate the area beforehand, and use a skin soother such as aloe vera gel afterward to reduce any swelling or redness.
