A person's daily caloric requirement is one of the most important dietary guidelines for someone who wants to maintain or loose weight. There are several factors that determine this feature and an accurate measurement is important.
Significance
Knowing your daily caloric requirement helps you maintain or lose weight.
Factors
Several factors contribute to a person's daily caloric allotment. They are age, gender, weight, height and daily activity level.
Variance
There is a wide range in caloric intakes. If you are a 35 year old woman of average height and weight who maintains an average activity level will need 2,158 calories. A man of the same age and activity level who is also of average height and weight will need to burn 2,729 calories.
Considerations
The caloric intake should come from three areas: carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Expert Insight
Losing weight comes from burning more calories than are taken in. While it is assumed that 2,000 calories is the average burned in the day, getting an accurate reading from a health professional is best for weight management.
