  • Remote programming is very easy although very different for just about every make and model of a car. Dealerships make the task seem very intimidating with their machines and computers; however, the truth is that you can do this yourself in a matter of minutes. By entering the programming mode of your car, you can program up to four transponders to your Honda Odyssey.

    The Process

It is very important that you make sure all of the doors, your trunk and your hood are closed on your Odyssey in order for this to work. It is also important to follow the timing of each step so that the car does not become confused. The process starts with the key inside the Odyssey but not turned. Also, make sure that when you are turning it on, you are going all the way to on and not into ACC mode, there should be about two clicks as this will be the position right before the key will turn over the engine. Now, put the key to the on position and within four seconds, press the lock or unlock button on your transponder with it aimed at your power windows master switch on the armrest of the driver's side. Within four seconds of that, turn the car off and then, again within four seconds, turn it back to the on position. Press the lock or unlock button at the power window master switch again within four seconds and return the key positioning to off within four seconds. Within four seconds, return it to on and quickly hit the unlock or lock button at the power window switch. One more cycle of off and on within four seconds each and hit the unlock or lock button at the power window switch to complete the cycle. You will get response from the door locks now, make sure to hit the unlock or lock button the transponder within four seconds of this occurrence for it to save the code. Within ten seconds of this, use your other transponder and hit the lock or unlock for it to save that code as well. Make sure that you hear the door locks move for the other transponder and then shut the car off to exit the programming mode. Now, test both of the transponders to make sure that they work outside of the car. This is the process for programming transponders although, if they belong on a new key, the key will have to be programmed by the dealership, as there are special computers used for this process.
