  • Broken capillaries are unattractive, particularly those on the face. Many conditions can cause them: too much sun exposure, temperature changes, and too much pressure on the skin (such as popping a pimple or blackhead). Sometimes broken capillaries go away on their own, but for those that stick around, you can treat them with natural remedies, laser treatment or concealer methods.

    Natural Remedies

A few natural remedies may eliminate broken capillaries. Cardiovascular exercise and drinking chamomile tea are two ways to eradicate these blemishes. Both increase blood circulation so it does not remain pooled in one area. Some essential oils such as rose, lemon, cypress, and lavender can help restore elasticity to the blood vessels. Essential oils may also help eliminate the redness on the skin's surface.

    Laser Treatment

Laser treatment is a popular method to getting rid of broken capillaries. What this does is collapse these capillaries, but it does not hurt the outer skin layers. The laser also stimulates blood circulation, smoothes skin tone and encourages collagen production. The advantage to this laser treatment is that it is non-invasive, requires minimal recovery time and is minimally painful. Depending on the severity of the damaged capillaries, more than one laser treatment may be needed for best results.

    Makeup

If laser is too expensive or does not completely repair broken capillaries, use makeup to conceal them. Since the capillaries are red, use a green tinted concealer to balance out the redness on the damaged area. Once that sets after a few minutes, apply a foundation that matches your skin tone over your entire face. If you want extra coverage, use a powder that matches your skin color over the foundation.
