    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Winstrol is the brand name for stanozolol, a man-made steroid that is similar to human testosterone. It is a tablet that is typically prescribed to treat hereditary angioderma, which causes swelling in the face and airways and abdominal cramping. Winstrol is also used by body-builders to increase "cutting" or gain more well-defined muscles. There are a number of side effects involved with taking Winstrol.

    Hepatic

Hepatic relates to problems to the liver. According to RxList, Winstrol and other anabolic steroids have been known to cause jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes) and hepatic necrosis (death of cells in the liver). Drugs.com says that abdominal pain, dark urine, light-colored stools, fatigue or vomiting are rare hepatic side effects, but to contact a doctor if you experience them.

    Male Problems

Drugs.com says taking Winstrol may result in frequent and persistent erections and breast tenderness or enlargement. RxList adds that phallic enlargement, testicular atrophy, impotence, lack of sperm, inflammation within the scrotum, bladder issues and increased or decreased libido may also occur.

    Female Problems

Women could experience a deepening of the voice, hair loss, clitoral enlargement, menstrual irregularities and increased or decreased libido.

    Acne

Acne is a common and less serious side effect when taking Winstrol, according to Drugs.com. RxList says that acne is especially common in prepubescent boys and women.

    Insomnia

Insomnia and difficulty sleeping is another common and less serious side effect of taking Winstrol. All side effects should be reported to your doctor, especially if you deem them serious or of a particular concern.
