Eric Sloane was an American realist artist born in New York City in 1905. Although he came from an affluent family he decided to run away in his family's Model T Ford in 1925. This is also when he changed his name from his birth name of Everard Jean Hinrichs. The majority of his paintings depicted American life in one way or another. His larger, more famous works can sell for as much as $70,000. As further examples, Sloane's work "Between the Clouds" is offered for $52,000 and "Covered Bridge" for $38,500 by The Old Santa Fe Trading Company.
