  • Saving a picture that you receive in your email inbox will allow you to view the photo when you are not connected to the Internet. It will also allow you to open the photo in a photo-editing application to make changes, such as cropping the picture or adding special effects. There are two methods for saving emailed photos, depending on how the picture was included in the email.

    Attachment

Open the email containing the photo. If the photo is attached as a file, it will appear at the base of the email and include an icon signifying it as an attachment. For example, in Google's mail client, Gmail, a small paper clip appears next to attachments. You will have two options for attachments in any mail client: "View" and "Download" or "Save." Click "Save" or "Downloading," whichever appears on your screen. Follow the prompts to save the photo. Be sure to save it in a location where you will be able to find it easily, such as in your My Pictures folder or directly onto your desktop.

    In-text photo

If the photo is included in the text portion of the email rather than as an attachment at the bottom of the email, you will need to use your right-click button to save the photo, if you have a PC. Right-click and locate the option that says "Save Picture As." Name the file and choose the desired location. Press "Finish." If you own a Mac, you will need to hold the control button down on your keyboard and place the cursor arrow onto the photo. Click your mouse button or keypad once to bring up the "Save Picture As" option.
