<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Vitamin D is Not a Sleeping Aid
According to international Vitamin D expert Anthony Norman, Vitamin D contributes to good health and healthy immune systems. Norman believes that to be in the best health and to prevent many diseases, including the risk of cancer, Vitamin D is necessary. Helping or improving sleep; however, is not mentioned as a benefit in his research on Vitamin D.
On the Other: Vitamin D Could Help People Sleep
If people get enough Vitamin D to optimize health--2,000 international units (IU), according to Norman--it is possible that our sleep will improve too. When our bodies are healthy and run efficiently, they can sleep better.
Bottom Line
Vitamin D is not considered a sleeping aid. However, the health benefits of Vitamin D may lead to better sleep. Know that too much Vitamin D can be harmful; never ingest more than 10,000 IU, recommends Norman.
