<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Quilted Hammocks
A quilted hammock is made of two layers of fabric separated by batting, and it feels like sleeping on a suspended blanket. Quilted hammocks are especially comfortable in colder weather because they provide much more insulation than a traditional hammock.
On the Other: Traditional Hammocks
Traditional or rope hammocks are made of woven rope, which supports and conforms to the body, providing an excellent level of comfort. Cotton-rope traditional hammocks are especially soft and comfortable, though not as durable and weatherproof as polyester.
Bottom Line
It all comes down to your personal preference. If you like the cocooning, custom-fit feel of woven rope, then go for a traditional hammock. If, however, you live in a less-than-tropical climate or tend to get cold outdoors, then consider a quilted hammock. One tip: If you have small children, then choose a quilted hammock, or a traditional hammock with a tight weave, or else their hands and feet could slip through the ropes.
