Rose essential oil possesses a number of properties including those of an anti-depressant, antiseptic, astringent, sedative, aphrodisiac, anti-viral, bactericidal, a tonic and an emmenagogue.

Historic Use

Rose oil was used historically by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs. It was used medicinally to treat a number of ailments but was also a favorite aphrodisiac oil, known to induce passion.

Medicinal Uses

Rose essential oil is used medicinally in the treatment of eczema, irregular menstruation, depression, insomnia, stress, dry skin, wrinkles, mature skin, asthma, coughs, menopausal problems, P.M.S. and anxiety.

Uses for Women

Rose essential oil is useful to women in all stages of life, from adolescence through pregnancy and to post-menopause. Rose oil is used to regulate menstrual problems and treat skin problems, in addition to providing relief from a number of pregnancy related problems.

Use as an Aphrodisiac

For centuries, rose has been used by lovers to seduce partners. Used in a massage oil, bubble bath or lotion, rose essential oil is said to have the power to stimulate sexual desire.
