<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: High Pressure Laminate Flooring
High pressure laminate flooring, also known as HPL flooring, is built to sustain high traffic and provides durability over the long term. This floor style is generally regarded as one of the most visually aesthetic laminate flooring options, and provides protection against pets and toy-related damage.
On the Other: Abrasion Class Laminate Flooring
Abrasion class laminate flooring is designed for commercial use, although lower class ratings can be good for residential use as well. Classes range from one to five, with one being the softest and five being the hardest. Level one abrasion class is durable enough to reduce scratches and damage from pets.
Bottom Line
High pressure laminate flooring provides durable protection against pet damage without adding discomfort for the animal. The harder the laminate floor material is, the less comfortable it is. While your pet might not scratch an abrasion class floor as much as a high pressure laminate floor, the difference should not be enough to warrant the added discomfort that abrasion laminate flooring results in for your pet.
