PC2100 memory operates at a clock speed of 266Mhz. This means that the CPU can draw data from central memory a total of 266 million times per second. In order to achieve this speed, however, the motherboard must be capable of a front speed bus (FSB) rate of 266 Mhz, otherwise the RAM will only operate at the motherboard's current FSB.
