Rabbit ears, also known as dipole antenna, are a cheap and usually effective way to get channels on your home television. Antennas can cost between $100 and $200. The best, and usually most expensive, rabbit ears are the kind that you attach to your roof, but the indoor, TV-top models can also work to get a limited amount of channels on your television. With rabbit ears, you only have to pay once to get channels, rather than every month, like with cable.

    On the Other: Fewer Channels

Some of the more expensive models of rabbit ears can get a large number of channels, but usually (and depending on your location) you can only get very few public channels with any passable clarity.

    Bottom Line

Rabbit ears are best if you don't want to pay a monthly bill, and you don't mind only getting a few channels. If you want greater variety and premium channels, cable or premium satellite service is what you will need.
