If you're one of "the fairest of them all," your complexion most likely has a cool undertone. You can pull off many shades of blond without looking washed out or boring. Stay away from golden tones. If you choose this route, choose striking platinum shades or a cool ash blond with wheat-colored highlights.
On the Other: Try Dark Hair
Blond tones can involve a lot of upkeep. Darker shades, on fair skin, can look dramatic and compelling. Jet black complements cool skin tones and looks especially striking if you have blue eyes. If you want to tone it down a little, look for a rich nut brown or chocolate brown. Again, choose your highlights carefully, and avoid red or mahogany colors, which will wash you out.
Bottom Line
If you have a fair complexion, consider yourself lucky that you can look gorgeous in light or dark. Do your homework, and you'll never have to worry about fading into the background.
