A 650-fill-power goose down comforter generally keeps a person warm in a room that is kept between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning it will most likely be too light of a fill for a room kept at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
On the Other: You Can Add Warmth to It
Most down comforter companies can add more down to your comforter, so there is the possibility that if your 650-fill comforter does not keep you warm you can pay some extra money to have a warmer one without having to buy a whole new comforter. However, once the company adds down to the comforter it cannot be removed.
Bottom Line
If you are purchasing a down comforter for a room kept at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, you will be better off purchasing one with more down in it, like a 75- or 800-fill down comforter. However, if you have already purchased the 650-fill comforter, there is the option for you to add more fill to it.
